PEX crimp rings during installation or secure fastening featuring brass and silver and blue; brass fitting

I picked up these specific cinch rings to save a little money in the process and they work as well as the name brands that I've used previously. No leaks; I'm happy! As you can see from the photo, they come packaged nicely in a reusable plastic jar and you can see from the plumbing photo, they work fine. I will come back and get this product if I need more.

A PEX crimping tool in a product detail image featuring stainless steel and black

I bought these for an emergency just in case scenario if something came up in a older home. Well there was an issue with an incoming water service line leak that these came in use. No complaints here with the quality of these. We had to replace a couple of fittings and make a bypass of the main water service line from a well for a temporary set up. This kit worked well and saved us time and money. Thank You

Stainless steel hose clamps handled during installation featuring silver; hose

The 60-piece screw-on lid container came with the full count of 60 pieces, no shortchanging. For non-PEX clamping, your working range is between approximately 9/16" for a light hold and 7/8" for a tight hold. If that is your range, then this is a 100% recommended buy.

These clamps (also known as oetiker clamps) are perfect for other clamping uses besides PEX. As other reviewers have noted, these OURU clamps are very well made: Thick stainless steel with smooth edges.

FAQ

PEX crimp rings vs cinch clamps: which is more reliable?

Both can provide reliable connections when the components are compatible and correctly installed. Stainless steel cinch clamps close at a single ear, while copper crimp rings require size-matched crimping jaws around the ring. Copper-ring installations also require the specified Go/No-Go inspection. Choose cinch clamps when their tool access and supported size range suit your work; choose copper rings when your existing tools and system specifications favor that method. Neither material compensates for incorrect positioning or an incompatible fitting.

Can I use the same 1-inch PEX cinch clamps on PEX-B and PE or HDPE pipe?

Do not assume they are interchangeable because they look alike or share a 1-inch label. PEX cinch clamps must match the specified PEX tubing and insert-fitting system. PE and HDPE installations require clamps selected for their own pipe dimensions and fitting design. For example, Apollo specifies poly pinch clamps for its Blue Twister polyethylene connections. Use 1-inch PEX cinch clamps on another piping system only when that combination is explicitly approved by the component manufacturers.

Can one PEX clamp tool handle multiple sizes and work in tight spaces?

Yes, within the tool’s stated size range—but not every tool handles every clamp. Some PEX clamp tools cover 3/8-inch through 1-inch connections, while others stop at 3/4 inch. Confirm the exact model’s compatibility before buying PEX clamp rings. In confined spaces, check both access to the clamp ear and clearance for the handles to complete their closing cycle. A multi-size tool does not automatically fit every installation location.

Can the same PEX clamps be used with PEX-A, PEX-B and different PEX fittings?

Size-matched PEX clamps can work with either tubing type when the complete connection is approved for cinch clamping. The PEX-A or PEX-B label alone does not establish compatibility. Match the tubing, ring and crimp-style insert fitting according to their manufacturers’ instructions. Do not substitute stainless steel clamp rings for expansion rings on ASTM F1960 fittings or for proprietary press sleeves. Different PEX fittings can require different joining methods even when they connect the same nominal tubing size.

Will replacing the clamp ring fix a slow leak, or do I need a new fitting and coupling?

Inspect the complete connection before deciding what to replace. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before removing the old ring with a compatible PEX clamp removal tool. Check the tubing, fitting, insertion depth and clamp position rather than assuming the ring alone caused the leak.

Replace damaged fittings and cut damaged tubing back to a sound, square end. Add a compatible coupling and replacement tubing when needed to restore the pipe length without strain. Rebuild with new PEX clamp rings and complete the specified leak test before concealing the connection。

Why are my 1-inch PEX clamps difficult to close or damaging the tool?

Stop if the tool jaws bend, crack or cannot complete the normal closing cycle. First confirm that your PEX cinch tool is explicitly rated for 1-inch PEX clamps of that design—some tools support only sizes up to 3/4 inch. Check that the clamp matches the tubing size, the jaws engage the ear correctly, and the tool is calibrated. Do not compensate with handle extensions or continue using damaged jaws; have the tool and clamp compatibility checked before proceeding.

Where should PEX clamp rings be positioned, and how do I confirm inspection requirements?

Follow the installation dimensions for your exact tubing, fitting and clamp system. For example, Apollo’s PEX-B guidance places rings 1/8–1/4 inch from the tubing end. Treat this as a manufacturer-specific reference, not a universal dimension for every product. Position PEX clamp rings over the fitting’s supported clamping area and complete the prescribed closing and inspection procedure.

Before closing walls or concealing connections, confirm the accepted joining method and required testing with your local plumbing authority. Pressure-test and inspect the completed installation according to the system instructions; a forum comment cannot establish your project’s acceptance requirements.
